Canal Trip
The weather was glorious for our Canal Trip on 20 July, although perhaps a little too hot!. We boarded our canal boat – Alfred Leroy – at Millbrook, Guildford
and set off for our peaceful trip down the River Wey and Godalming Navigations. With cooling drinks in our hands and fully relaxed, we viewed the countryside as we floated down the river. Fields either side of the riverbank passing slowly by as we meandered along - we noticed at one point a herd of Aberdeen Angus cows who looked splendid with the sun shining down on their rusty brown coats paddling in the water to keep cool!
Before too long it was time for the Lock Keeper’s Platter, a traditional ploughman’s lunch of cheddar cheese, pickles, onions and salad with roll and butter.
Chattering away, the time flew by and it was time to return to the coach for the journey home. A thoroughly enjoyable day had by all.
